A short, honest trail with the best effort-to-view ratio in the area. A loop of about 5.5 km leaves the Forte do Cavalo campsite, climbs Monte Picoto and drops back along the coast, with continuous views over Praia do Ribeiro do Cavalo — one of the most beautiful beaches on the coast, white sand between sheer cliffs.
Difficulty is moderate; nothing technical, but the start climbs steadily. 1h50 at regular pace. The Forte do Cavalo itself is a 17th-century fort that now serves as a picnic area; worth a lunch on the way back.
This is the right walk for anyone who wants a morning of Arrábida coast without committing to the four or five hours of Serra do Risco. Works with kids from about 8 up.
